Communication on your terms

Text first. ASL in person. No required call.

Remdo is for Deaf customers and independent Deaf providers in the United States. Being Deaf does not mean being unable to speak.

Before you meet

Write the task, confirm the location, and search. The customer chooses who to contact. Use the task chat to agree scope, payment, a meeting point, and whether you will use ASL or written communication in person.

Short suggested messages can be inserted into the chat box, edited, and sent by you. They are never sent automatically. Requests and messages use text. Remdo does not request microphone access.

Arrival and updates

Keep the request open for written progress and arrival updates. New activity can also appear as a visible in-app notice without audio. There are no flashing alerts. Vibration depends on device support and settings.

Background delivery requires notification permission, network access, and browser or operating-system support. A closed browser cannot guarantee an alert. Check your task and messages directly if an update is important.

What ASL means here

American Sign Language is a language, not a universal set of gestures. Providers self-confirm that they can communicate in ASL for the work they offer. Remdo does not test fluency or certify interpreters.

There is no automatic ASL video recognition, interpreting service, or built-in video-call promise. AI matching works with written service descriptions. Do not use an ordinary local-services provider in place of a qualified interpreter for medical, legal, or other specialist communication.

Identity verification

A provider may need a camera and identity document in the external identity-check flow. That check verifies identity, not hearing status or ASL competence. Remdo does not ask for an audiogram or proof that a person cannot speak.

If the external verification screen is inaccessible, contact support in writing. Do not upload medical records as a workaround.

Report an access barrier

Email support@remdo.app with the page, device, and step that did not work. Please omit passwords, identity documents, and medical information. Support is available in writing; no voice call is required.

This page describes implemented options, not a claim of certified WCAG or ADA compliance. Testing with Deaf users, including people who prefer ASL to written English, is part of the release checklist.
